That time of the year has finally come. . . and so our yearly tradition continues!
Hi everyone! Welcome, or welcome back, to The Teen Safe Zone, where it's safe for teens to be themselves! I'M BACK (and as a university student! fancy, fancy lol)! Sooo much has happened and changed since my last post in August. 2025 had quite a few unexpected events thrown at me, but nonetheless, I've overcame it and have learned some really life-changing lessons along the way. I always say that things happen for a reason, and that you won't be given an obstacle in life that's too big for you to handle (even in times when YOU convince yourself that you can't do it). I have so much to share, and I'll catch you all up about it in my next post, coming soon. For now, let's take a breather and chat about Spotify Wrapped!
My Overall Thoughts:
If you remember my 2024 Spotify Wrapped post I made earlier this year, you probably remember just how disappointed I was in my Spotify Wrapped results last year. I felt like it didn't quite capture my music taste at all, or just how much I changed my listening habits last year. Last year, I felt like I was really starting to find my music taste outside of mainstream artists and songs (not saying that listening to mainstream music is a "bad thing", I just felt like a lot of it was no longer "me" anymore). I began to find small and indie artists like Adrianne Lenker, Gigi Perez, etc., and their music was something I could truly connect to. I loved their songwriting skills and the beauty of it. These songs quickly filled my playlists towards the middle/end of 2024, but unfortunately, my Wrapped results didn't capture that. However, my music taste continued to evolve well into 2025, and I am proud to share my Wrapped results this year! This time, my Wrapped truly reflects who I am and the music that I love. I found so many great small and independent artists this year (my newly found hobby lol), and I can't wait to share them with you all!
Also, we need to give a round of applause to Spotify for listening to the criticisms of last year's Wrapped and improving Wrapped this year to be much better. So thanks, Spotify!
As always, I make a playlist each year that I've been working on since the beginning of the year, capturing my favorite songs I found and listened to! You can follow along and save it if you'd like. It's nearly 9 hours of beauty lol.
Listening Minutes:
(Drum roll!)
22,569 (15 days of nonstop music... again!)
One of my biggest goals for every year's Wrapped results is to outdo my previous year's listening minutes. Coincidentally, I fell into nearly the same range for listening minutes as last year's, and came about 200 minutes short this time. However, I still came in tied with 15 days of nonstop music, so it's a win-win for me. I was online reading other people's results, and some had 2x-3x more listening minutes than I have. So though it's not impossible to overcome my results, I think it's the best I can do. Next year, I would be completely fine if I came in tied again lol.
Top Artists of 2025:
Just as I thought, I am VERY pleased with the results this year:
Gigi Perez
I predicted this one for the entire year because I just KNEW. She released her debut album 'At The Beach, In Every Life' earlier this year, and it is practically a no-skip. I had this album on repeat for my entire year, and I play it on nearly every occasion—morning, noon, and night; spring, summer, fall, and winter; studying, writing, etc., you name it! So as you can see, this was no surprise here!
Noah Kahan
I've heard of Noah Kahan for a few years now, but I actually did not get into his music seriously until this year. His song 'Stick Season' went viral a few years back, but I personally didn't enjoy that one, so it explains why I'm a few years late to the party. However, it is no surprise that an artist's best songs are hidden in their discography (so I recommend you start looking at an artist's full discography, not just their mainstream songs). There are ALWAYS going to be hidden gems lol. I started writing a new novel (I'm a writer at heart, you see) during my spare time in the middle of senior year, and his songs matched PERFECTLY with the vibe that I have in mind for my story! Actually, I'm going to be honest and say that at least 70% of my nearly 9-hour playlist is inspired by my story, or whatever I'm writing at the time.
H.E.R.
Although I am an indie girlie, I also love R&B and found a ton of R&B gems this year. I enjoyed listening to more of H.E.R.'s discography and find myself jamming out to her songs in the car, while working out, etc.
Adrianne Lenker
Her songwriting skills are top-tier. I love it when artists don't try to put themselves in a box of what is "radio-friendly"and instead, they write about how they feel. Adrianne has a really beautiful way of capturing that feeling. Her songs are pure poetry. Also, I don't know why, but a lot of her songs give me "Little House on the Prairie" (which is one of my comfort shows!) vibes... anyone else? I can see the vision of her songs playing if that show had a modern spin-off.
Sabrina Carpenter
This was the one I was kind of thrown off by..? I'm not the biggest Sabrina fan anymore. Sure, she has a few catchy songs, but I don't see myself listening to her enough to be in my top five artists. I did attempt to listen to her album "Man's Best Friend" all the way through on Spotify when it first came out, but the only song I enjoyed enough to add to my playlist was 'Sugar Talking'. So maybe that explains why? I'm not sure, but I am so glad with my other results this time that I'll take my fifth artist being a bit inaccurate lol.
Top Songs of the Year:
Please Be Rude by Gigi Perez (played 188 times on Spotify alone... oops!)
If anyone asks, this is THE ultimate comfort song for me. It's my go-to for every situation. It's something about the melody that is just so relaxing! I listened to this song over and over again since the moment I found it in October 2024, and I just can't get tired of it (which is rare for a person like me haha)! I've heard this song in every form: slowed, sped-up, every cover I could possibly find on the internet, and every live performance, and I just LOVE it! I might have played this 188 times on Spotify, but that does not count all the times I stream it on YouTube too... I'm scared to know the number in total lol.
Sailor Song by Gigi Perez
Like many others, this song was how I originally found Gigi's music last year. The sailor and sea theme actually inspired the creation of my new story, so it's no surprise that this one is in my top five. As much as I enjoy this song and appreciate the vulnerability of it, I would still say that her songs 'Please Be Rude' and 'Normalcy' (which unfortunately didn't make the cut for top five songs of the year) are my favorite songs by her.
not a lot, just forever by Adrianna Lenker
I found this one towards the end of last year. It's a very beautiful and heart-wrenching song. I find it interesting how it can be taken as either a love song or a break-up song. It reminds me of peaceful December sunrises in the winter, but also the beauty of spring when the Earth gets a new layer of life. This song can be taken in a multitude of different ways, so maybe that's why I love it.
Love Letter From the Sea to the Shore by Delaney Bailey
As you can see, I wasn't lying when I said that my writing shaped a lot of my music this year lol. Here we are again with the sea theme, thanks to my story. But seriously, this song is another beauty of my playlist. It also inspired me to go to Lake Michigan and release a message in a bottle the day before my graduation as a signal of a closing chapter. So, as you can see, this song has good memories associated with it!
friends? by Aubory Bugg
(Me sitting here at my laptop trying to figure out a new way to mention for the millionth time the connection between my music and writing.) I'll just leave it at that...

I totally didn't write this post while watching a 3-hour movie... lol. I hope you all enjoyed reading my results for Spotify Wrapped, and hopefully, you were satisfied with your results this year as well! As I mentioned earlier, I am now a university student, and it is finals season. Therefore, I will try to get some posts out either during my free time or during winter break in about two weeks. I have a ton of life updates and situations that happened in 2025 that I plan on sharing soon. Also, I mentioned a few months ago about plans to work on the website a bit, so you may see some changes coming as well. I'm so excited to be back, and I'll see you soon! Thanks for sticking around!
